I Need You

I am:
The owner of a boutique design & marketing company. I work from home and so do the other designers and developers that work for me. I love the fact that we can be casual, have a family life, and work at home. That said, my business and my clients are important to me and I’m looking to move things to the next level. For that, I need help. I need you.

You are:
You’re smart.
You’re detail oriented.
You’re reliable.
You’re curious.
You’re not afraid of computers. Even Macs.
You’re organized.
You’re honest.
You’re trustworthy.
You’re articulate.
You’re competent.
You’re customer oriented.
You have an eye for good color and great design.
You’re interested in the creative industry.
You recognize quality when you see it and are committed to always producing quality work.
You know how to focus and see a job through to completion.
You’re actively interested in offering the best possible service to our clients.
You’re happy to do odds and ends jobs when needed.
You’re confident. You’re not afraid to challenge, question and contribute without being asked.
You’re positive.
You’re proactive.
You’re creative. You’re passionate about making the ordinary extraordinary!
You can respond appropriately to situations without guidance from me.
You help me function at my best.
You are the type of person I would feel comfortable allowing in my home, and around my children – because that is where I work.
You can write and speak in grammatically accurate English. (←For instance, is this sentence grammatically correct? And should I even start this sentence with “and”?)
You are excited to develop a firm handle on the way my business runs.
You’re ready and willing to work with me, not just for me.
You are better than me in all kinds of ways.

The position is:

  • Primarily for a personal assistant but since you’re so curious and wonderful, you’ll probably be interested in learning more. I would love to teach you graphic design skills little by little to broaden your long-term marketability.
  • Grows with you. We will start at part time (around 10 hours per week) with the option to grow into more hours as your skills broaden. If you don’t have the capacity to grow and want to stick with the PA duties, it’s not a deal breaker.
  • On site with the possibility of eventually working from home part of the time.

Some typical responsibilities include:

  • Responding to emails
  • Light graphic design
  • Photo styling & studio organization
  • Filing
  • Book keeping and invoicing
  • All around slack-picking-upping

I must credit the amazing Natalie Norton as both the inspiration for hiring an assistant and the general creativity with which she conceived the job description.
