Case Study: Yellowstone IMAX Theatre

The Yellowstone Imax Theatre is wildly popular with the millions of tourists that visit Yellowstone National Park each year. Visitors from around the world stop by the theater to see the nation’s first National Park as it could never be seen from a car or even on foot. More than just a movie about the park, their feature, Yellowstone, is a mind-blowing panoramic visual treat shot with the IMAX system.

Yellowstone IMAX contacted us in 2002 to create a website for their theater. Because visitors to the theater rarely live nearby, they needed a way to get their offerings and schedule in front of tourists who would be visiting over the coming months. They also needed to convey that they were no ordinary theater showing an ordinary film.

After the completion of the website, their relationship with Sakka Studio quickly grew to encompass on-site photography, brochures, advertisements, billboards, branding, packaging design, sign design, point of sale displays and more. We’ve enjoyed an eight year partnership that has continued with the growth and expansion of the theater. Not only the theater a premier tourist destination, it has also become home to Yellowstone Trading Post, one of the area’s most successful gift shops. Among other things, the shop features a popular line of private labeled gourmet gifts. Of course, the packaging design is all by Sakka Studio.
